A Visit to the Dentist Part 2

I visited the dentist right after class today. The female dentist and her assistance greeted me happily when I came into their room. So after I told her what my problem was, she asked me to lie down after handing me a red tinted sunglass. So high tech I thought.

“You chipped your tooth? Do you want to patch it up?” she asked laughing at me.

“No it’s ok.” I laughed back.

“How did you chipped it?”

I fought back my laughter and managed to reply “I bit on a metal fork”. She was thrown back in laughter after hearing my answer.

“Wah who were you fighting food with?” she said laughingly.

After the laughing drama, the diagnosis began. The result was I have small holes on 3 of my molars and 2 baby wisdom tooth.

“Do you want to get and X-ray and schedule your operation?” she asked rather cheerfully. When I heard the word “operation”, I felt an immediate urge to say “Siannnnnn”, though I did not say out verbally. I felt scared and sian at the same time at that moment. The drama did not just end here.

Half way through the teeth filling, the water system got cut because one of the pipes at Gek Poh burst. Thankfully, somehow, the dentist managed to complete the filling process using her own kettle water and a syringe with a supposedly sour liquid which I can’t taste because the water suction equipment managed to suck it all away before I could taste it.

After the filling was done, the dentist assistance told me that the half cup filled water was all I could use to rinse my mouth and she told me I was so lucky.

In the end, the dentist could only fill 2 of my teeth due to the water being cut. 1 more appointment next tuesday is scheduled. A visit to a dental clinic is so eventful.
